The Townsville Bulletin speaks to Rider Levett Bucknall Townsville Director Mr. Chris Marais about rising building costs in leading growth centres such as Townsville and Brisbane.
"Construction activity in Townsville is at high levels which as a consequence, places pressure on trade and costs" Mr. Marias states, noting "In Townsville the supply cost of steel has increased between 20 and 30 per cent while the cost of concrete items has increase by 10 per cent."
Rider Levett Bucknall predicts slightly higher increases over the next few years due to high levels of demand and the increasing cost of labour and materials.
