Darwin City Waterfront: Rider Levett Bucknall Northern Territory
This year the Darwin office celebrates its 35th anniversary.
Not a long history compared to that of our global network, which can be traced back to a small firm of quantity surveyors established in Reading, England. But a rich history and one that, by its very brevity, can lay claim to quality service, professionalism and achievement: the office has grown to become the pre-eminent and longest serving firm of Quantity Surveyors in Darwin servicing the whole of the Northern Territory including Alice Springs and the remote regions of the NT and into north western parts of Western Australia.
Following the passage of Cyclone Tracy in December 1974, which caused severe and widespread property damage to Darwin, the journey from the office's inception in early 1975 has been remarkable. The office has been involved with most major landmarks in Darwin, including Darwin City Waterfront, NT House, TIO Headquarters, Pandanas Residential Development, Evolution-on-Gardiner and Robertson Barracks to name but a few and numerous projects in outlying regions in all sectors of the property and construction industry in the Northern Territory.
This is a story of collective achievement - the office employs a very good team of dedicated qualified professionals totally committed to the ongoing development of the Top End of Australia. Mr Paul Lassemillante, Director RLB NT commented, "One of the strengths of our office has been the long term commitment provided by senior members, managers and directors enabling us to establish and nurture the growth of our office as well as relationships with key stakeholders in the industry especially during the times when Darwin was characterised by the transient nature of its population and labour force."
"It is a history to be proud of - and while we are not planning lavish celebrations, we will be taking opportunities throughout the year to mark this important milestone," he said.
From its humble beginnings, the office successfully rode out the national recession in the early 90's and the recent global financial crisis, to become an integral part of the growth and development of Darwin's thriving economy and community.
Mr Lassemillante continued, "The knowledge acquired over these past 35 years is unparalleled in the NT and will be used to consolidate our position in the market and to further grow our operations and services in the future. We remain totally committed to the region and as part of the Rider Levett Bucknall global practice, we have access to an unsurpassed range of expertise and experience which we draw from to ensure total delivery of services of the highest level of quality and professionalism."
