Millions to see New Zealand Pavilion at 2010's World Trade Expo

Rider Levett Bucknall Wellington has been heavily involved in the development of the New Zealand Pavilion for 2010's World Trade Expo in Shanghai.

Rider Levett Bucknall Wellington was selected as the Quantity Surveyors for the New Zealand Pavilion in late 2006 and has been working with Project Managers Coffey Projects, Architects Warren & Mahoney, Engineers Beca and interior concept designers Story Inc. to produce the structure to house the New Zealand exhibition.

The $20 million New Zealand Pavilion will be iconic and exciting, once complete. The stunning exhibition includes an 820sqm sloping roof garden and walkway planted with New Zealand natives, 260sqm of beautifully appointed VIP entertainment areas and 420sqm (2,940 cb/m) of exhibition space.

Grant Watkins, Director of Rider Levett Bucknall's Wellington office commented," This pavilion gives New Zealand a fantastic opportunity to showcase to a vast audience what our country can offer for business, science, technology, and leisure sectors."

"The launch of the Rider Levett Bucknall global practice last year, has benefited the firm with a global network and presented us with project opportunities such as this, where our Wellington and Shanghai offices are working together on a collaborative basis." he said.

The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial Expo which aims to promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world economy, culture, science and technology. It allows exhibitors to publicise and display their achievements and improve international relationships. Accordingly, the World Expo with its 150-year history is regarded as the Olympic Games of the economy, science and technology.

During the World Trade Expo's 180 day duration it is expected that around 12 million people will participate in the New Zealand experience-that equates to around 10,000 visitors a day.
