Rider Levett Bucknall appointed as Risk Manager for $60m Stadium

Rider Levett Bucknall's Newcastle office has been appointed as the Hunter International Sports Centre Trust's (HISCT) Risk Manager for the recently proposed redevelopment of the Energy Australia Stadium.

Following the success of the Eastern Grandstand Redevelopment in 2005, Rider Levett Bucknall have continued their association with HISCT, in particular reviewing the current proposal for the $60m replacement of the existing Western Grandstand.

With proposed State funding of $30m and the Trust seeking equivalent funding from the Federal Government, the redevelopment will see Newcastle premier sporting facilities upgraded to include 13,000 seats, new player facilities, corporate boxes as well as a new home for the administration currently undertaken by the Trust.

With Stage 1 design currently being finalised, Rider Levett Bucknall will assist the Trust not only in its cost planning and quantity surveying role, but by also acting as the Trust's Risk Manager, reviewing proposed consultants, design options, contractors and managing the governance of the total project.

Matt Harris, Director of Rider Levett Bucknall admits that the role is a great pat on the back for his team, particularly those involved in the previous Eastern Stand Redevelopment:

"By acting as the Trust Risk Manager we are able to work on a project from its very earliest stage right through to completion. We have assisted not only the Trust but many of the Government departments in ensuring the project goes forward with a low risk profile".
